    im on a local race track rescue team and we want a camera that would be fast enough to take pictures of the cars its a dirt track and they can reach speeds of 60mph+ in the corners and weve tried just regular digital cameras but they never work we need to stay under the 400 dollar range weve been looking on ebay but we are just not sure what is good and what is not if any1 could help that would be great

    You would be best off using a panning technique, which is fairly difficult and requires specific exposure metering. Usually requires a neutral density filter as well. If you don't want to do the panning technique, then you might want to prioritize a shutter of 1/4000th of a second. Most point and shoots max out at 1/1600th to 1/2000th, but every DSLR I've ever seen does at least 1/4000th, some do 1/8000th.

    I don't think you'll get what you want for under $400, particularly for night racing.
    But the newer compact cameras from Canon and Sony look interesting, as they are more sensitive than their predecessors and will be able to capture action better.
    If the price comes as low as your budget, they're worth looking into.
