    Please help decide between "entry" DSLR...
    thanks in advance for any help.

    Background:
    • No experience with dslr
    • Coming from Point & Shoot
    • Budget of $900 or less
    • Want excellent images as well as Video


    Looking at Canon Rebel T1and Nikon D90?

    Can anyone who has experience with these DSLR's in the sud $1000 range give me user reviews and feedback in terms of use, image quality, and video?

    Main use - shooting images of our 2 year old daughter

    Both good cameras, but with your tight budget the T1i is the clear winner. It is important to have a good lens to pair it with, the kit lens can only do so much, you will be very limited by the lens if thats the one you stick with. The T1i's ~ $180 price advantage could put that chunk of change towards a nicer lens, which is much more important than the difference between the two camera bodies (I'm sure everyone here will agree).

    By the way: I might even suggest considering the body only DSLR, instead of getting it with a kit, then getting something like a Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 or 28-75 f/2.8, which will run circles around the Canon 18-55 even to the most green laymen of eyes. According to BHPhoto a Rebel T1i/Tamron 28-75mm kit would cost $1050.
