new Canon Digital Rebel 300D on the way?

I have heard/read reports of a replacement for the Canon Digital Rebel 300D coming out soon, around the $1300 pricepoint... Does anyone have any further information on this? Also, any upgraded D70 coming out? (And not talking about the "D70x" either, lol)....

    thanks in advance.

The d70 just started shipping, and I doubt a replacement for the drebel will be more expensive. Didn't really think that through, did you?

actually, I did think it through. It's just what I heard - has a newer model ever cost more? I don't think that's far-fetched to think. Maybe not $1300, but that's just what I heard.

    thanks though.

Sometimes newer models cost less, but this is not a film camera. Every generation of digital SLRs has been cheaper than the one before it. A 300d replacement will be geared towards the same market, so it will be cheaper. However, the 300d is so new, it'll be a while before it is replaced. As for the D70, come on, the thing just started shipping last month. Digital lifetimes are short, but not THAT short.

If anything, the 300d should drop in price. Many want a new camera between the 10D/1d, sort of a digital EOS 3, THAT might come in the price range you specify, or maybe a bit higher. A 300d replacement will have to be cheaper though. Look at the D70, better than the D100 in many regards, but 500 bucks cheaper.

I don't understand this response. You asked about stuff you "heard," wouldn't that be speculation? How are my thoughts any worse?

To be more clear, no one knows a damn thing until Canon or any of the other manufacturers announce it. Anything resp say is nothing more than hearsay. Same with any of the forums. So coming here and asking will get you nowhere, especially since people here tend to avoid rumours, notice how slow the rumours forum has been?

I was just having a friendly exchange of "speculation" with you, it seems to me you may have taken it differently than I intended. I tend to be a bit too blunt at times, and if that put you off, I apoligize.

count the number of times you wrote the words "if" and "will" in your post, and then you will understand speculation.

Here is your replacement for Canon Digital Rebel 300D (Kiss). Well.... it's not really a replacement but additional to 300D line up.

I don't get the black. Why is everything black!?? I like the Silver rebel far more than the black.

Where I live, it's usually about 110-115 degrees most of summer, around 8% humidity... that's less humidity than the sahara desert. One thing I don't need is MORE BLACK THINGS GETTING SCALDING HOT.

Just another reason to get white L lenses. =D

    Wink

I hate black too. Oops... I mean I hate black color on the camera. I am not racial. I like the silver color on dRebel. It makes it stand out and high tech kind of feeling.
