Nikon lens compatibility
Hi - this may sound like a stupid question, but I'm about to buy a D70 and hope to be able to use my old lenses. Nikon's strength used to be that they kept the F-mount while Canon made everyone buy new lenses.
I have some AI-S lenses (F3 era) -- the internal mechanical lever that conveys aperture info. It came out right after they abandoned the metal tab that hooked to the prism of the F1.
Does anyone know if AI-S lenses will work in manual mode???

From what I've heard, AIS lenses will work in manual mode (as in no metering). This is at least true with the D100 and any other camera built on the N80 body. You could call 1-800-NIKON-US to be sure about the D70 though.
