Newbie - Want to buy lense

Hi There,

I am a newbie to the Digital SLR cameras. I am looking forward to buy the lenses. My purpose is to take nice photos of landscapes, individual and family potraits. The lense should have a reasonably good zoom as well. The camera I have is NIkon D70.

Please advice.

I use a sigma 18-125 which on the 20D that I use works out to be 28-200 in 35 mm terms. More than enough for landscapes and portraits.

Do you not have the kit lens? I find that the kit lens is very flexible for landscapes...nice and wide. If you want more zoom, you can also pick up the Nikon 70-300mm for about $250.

Several manufacturers also make 28-300mm lenses as well. It would help if you told us what equipment and camera you already have or were planning to buy.
