I'm gettign A good deal?

HEllo,

I'm new to the DSLR, I will be gettign my first dslr, My friend is selling a Canon Rebel XSI With Canon 75-300mm f/4-5.6 Lens like new for $450 shipped, comes with strap, 2gig SD, body cap, battery and charger. I know the Rebel XSI is a entry level SLR.

What you guys think?

I think that is a good deal. But you will need a better walk around lens than the 75-300mm. You need a lens in the area of 15-50mm for general shooting. I am not familiar with Canon's line of lenses so check the Canon forums too. Maybe post there. They will give you a better idea on a lens. The 75-300 is more suited for far away subjects.

If you were to buy that camera and lens combo new, you would pay over $700, so I think you are getting a pretty good deal.

I like Gregs suggestion of a shorter lens as well, but what that lens should be really depends on what type of shooting your into. I would suggest the 50mm f/1.8 lens. A fast, sharp lens that you can get shipped new for less than $100.
