NEED HELP - choosing my first DSLR
    Hello everyone,

Let me introduce myself first, since this is my first post.
My name is Mahmoud, and I'm a General Surgery resident. I have had an SLR-Like digital camera for 4 years and have been enjoying my time shooting and learning. I think now is the time to move to something more serious. As I do not have a lot of time because of my work, I'm planing to get an entry level DSLR and maybe in 2-3 years get something a bit better.

I'm confused between two DSLRs :
Sony A350W - with 2 kit lenses (18-70 and 55-250) - I like the live view a lot. It's a 14.2MP, Image stabilized, feels nice.... A bit concerned about the image quality. Said to be a bit easier to use.

Canon 1000D with 2 lenses 18-55mm IS and 55-250mm IS - so also image stabilized, maybe a bit better image quality. Live view is IMO very difficult to operate thus a bit worthless (??). 10MP....

    What do you think guys???
Both are exactly the same price (699EU)
I'm not concerned about "buying into a system" - since the lenses are not that good to keep or make me decide on my next DSLR in few years - (i.e. when I want to buy a serious DSLR, I'll get also serious lenses - so this is not that much of a concern...)

I want a camera that gives me good quality photoes, reliable and easy to use.

Thanks very much for your help, and looking forward to learing to use my DSLR

    M

I would choose the Sony, I think.
The stabilisation in the body and live view are both good features.
Particularly with tilting screen which makes live view actually useful !

You may want to have a look at the Nikon d5000.
I currently have a Nikon d40x and will upgrade to the d5000 because it is a very user friendly camera with many preset shooting modes.
