    my nikon sb-900 settings
I have my nikon SB-900. I've noticed last night that the built-in flash of my dslr is brighter (when you compare the photos side-by-side) on TTL mode compared to SB-900 also on TTL mode. Why is that? Is there something wrong wit my SB-900? Kindly help me. Many Thanks.

The Nikon forum would be a better place to post this question.

I assume you're using a Nikon DSLR? Check the i-TTL mode on the built-in flash on the camera and on the SB900. It sounds like:

    1. You're using standard i-TTL mode on the built-in flash. The flash blasts off without taking into account the ambient light. The result is usually that the flash overpowers the ambient light
    2. You're using i-TTL BBL mode on the SB900. The camera will try to balance the ambient light and the SB900 and do more of a fill-in effect

Charles answered what I was thinking.
Might help if you posted an example.
Are you saying the sb900 is not giving enough light?

Thanks Franglais. Yes I'm a Nikon user. For a beginner like me your reply is a great help. I'll check my flash settings and get back to you if I missed something.

You may want to post it to http://www.nikongcc.com/ too to see if there are any local Nikon SB-900 users that can help you.
