    Previewing shots direct to laptop

OK, I'm probably using all the wrong terminology here, but here goes...

I am the proud new owner of a Nikon D70s, but want to trigger the camera direct from my G4 Powerbook.

Problem is, I would like to be able to view and compose the picture on the laptop screen before I take the picture - not after! (i.e. use the laptop as a viewfinder I guess...)

I'm sure I have seen pro's do this and have found the software for Canon cameras - but what about Nikon?

Getting desperate, any help, greatly appreciated... Thanks, Neil

Does this help at all. Nikon Capture 4.2.0 as I am not a Nikon person but a Canon person, I think this might be what you are after. It is a trial version of the software for Macintosh. Hope this helps.

What you are wanting to do from what you have written is to tether your camera directly to the computer and capture the image.

mmm... but the D70s is a reflex camera. There is a mirror in the way wich prevents using the camera display (or any other display) to preview the picture. Unless there is some special modification like the japanese D20 made specially for astrophotography, which has a semi-transparent mirror.

Really, i think the manufacturers could include this funcionality as a special mirror-lockup mode, but i'm not engineer, so i don't know for sure.
