I've just purchased (It's "in the mail") a Minolta Maxxum 7D digital SLR and am excited about getting started as soon as it arrives. I've been using an old Maxxum 7xi (which I dearly love, but want to move firmly into digital) along with a Minolta 3500 xi Flash unit. My question is whether it is worth the money (for now) to simultaneously buy a new Minolta 3600 HS (D) Flash unit? How much do I lose (I'm using my old Minolta auto focus lenses for now, not the new Digital lenses . . . . . "cash flow", you know) if I stick with the old flash unit instead of buying the new one, and is it's use "transparent" and automatic, or do I have to do a lot of manual calculations each time I use it? Anyone who knows the answer to this (admittedly "newby" question would be forever in my debt if they could fill me in (no pun intended)!
