Looking for a lens adapter
Alright i have had a Canon 300d digital rebel for awhile and recently came upon my dads old Minolta XG7 with the MD-Rokkor-X 50 mm lens and the Mikaton 200mm macro zoom lens and was wondering if there was a lens adapter out there to use these lenses on my digital rebel? Have seen many adapters out there but dont know what would work.
Thanks,
Matt

Don't bother with adapters. These brand-to-brand adapters are a real pain to use and you lose all the features including metering (you have to manually do stopped-down nonsense). Not worth the aggravation.

You also have to look at cost. What is the lens worth? Is it worth putting in $100-$200 for a lens adapter? I use one for a Contax prime lens. When I use this lens, It is always on a tripod. So the stop down metering and manual focus is not a problem. Most people that have gone the adapter route use it for landscape or architecture. If it moves then the functionallity becomes an issue.
So if you are doing it to save money, I would buy a third party (Sigma, Tokina, Tamron) lens before buying an adapter.

thanks,
I am looking to use it both for some landscape but also some other things, i will probably end up buying a new lens.

Have you done some research on Ebay? There are some bargains to be had among the unusual items for sale there?
Cheers.

Re: Looking for a lens adapter
This is the most comprehensive site I have found for adapters:
http://www.cameraquest.com/adaptnew.htm
If they were not so pricey, I may be tempted to use the ol' Kodak Retina lenses with the Pentax Honeywell (or *istDS)

Those prices are outrageous, I bought a M42-> K mount for $9.99 through Ebay. Also bought 50mm F2.0 M, K mount for $6.05 and a 55mm F1.8 (M42 screw mount) for $15, having a great time.
