IR transmitters and D70

Has anyone ever used and infrared transmitter on a D70 to fire studio strobes. Nikon says no, but I still wonder,.

What do you mean by, "Nikon says no." There's no reason you can't put an IR slave on the hotshoe and use it to trigger studio strobes with an IR sensor. Is there some other problem I'm missing?

You might want to also post on the Studio and Lighting forum. I think you'll be more likely to get the answer you need there. This is more of a lighting question than a camera question. At least, I think it is.
