    Is this info fact?
Hi, I was reading a review on another forum, not as good as this one though and saw this part of a buyers review of the Sony Alpha 100
'2) The noise issue at ISO 600 ISO 1600. After I made the purchase I found Sony has a fix for the Noise issue.

You connect your camera to the computer, download the fix and save on your memory card. Once you discount your camera from the computer and restart it, it will ask you if you want to update your software. Once the software is update, the noise issue is completly gone. I have less noise then the canon and the nikon.'

Has anyone tried this 'fix' and if so, did it work?
    Thanks in advance.

Sounds like an update, similar instruction for update to my D80.
Maybe someone with your same camera can answer better if you ask in the Sony forum.

That would be a firmware update. But It's a reach to say "Once the software is update, the noise issue is completly gone. I have less noise then the canon and the nikon." I'm sure the noise may be minimized. But it won't be gone. It would be nice to see some controlled before and after photos from someone who has an A100. I actually think that a lot of photographers worry too much about noise. Given, less it better. But when I tested the A100, I didn't think the noise at ISO 800 was offensive. Sure, I'd try to avoid it. But if ISO 800 was what needed to be done to get the shot, then I'd do it and not worry about it.
