Hey guys i just joined a photography class and i want to get either a Canon or a Nikon DSLR. My budget is around 700$ but could go up to 800$. Can anyone tell me a good camera in that range?

Canon 40D + Decent lens. Thats the way I'd go. Can get it from KEH or local stores. Not as new as the T2i and the newer rebels, but I think its better for learning on, and will certainly last you longer.

If you went Nikon, I dunno - D200, or D90 maybe.
