    First Lens for my Rebel XS

    Hey everyone i was wondering what would be a good lens to get that can see really far. and what is that called is that a telephoto lens?

    I dont wanna spend alot since im just a beginner so wht u guys think?

    I think that really depends on what you want to shoot. Birds, sports, ect. Faster glass that will do sports will be more expensive. Give us an idea of what you want to shoot. Just a general zoom like a 70-300mm would do for most things, but like I wrote, sports is a different matter.

    Beginner or not a good lens is a good lens, and thats what they do, cost a lot. The 70-200 f/4 L is relatively cheap at $570 - click here. 200 is fairly long reach with the APS conversion.
