    EOS 300D + Sigma 70-300 APO Macro
I am trying to use the Sigma 70-300 APO Macro lens on my EOS 300D. Firstly I get the Err99 message and the camera won't start.

If I operate the lens on my EOS 500 film camera and then transfer it directly to the EOS 300D it is usually OK. Equally if I try another lens first (not the 18-55 EF S) and then the Sigma, it may work.

    Any ideas gratefully received.

I had a Sigma 28-200 that did just fine on my 1V, but refused to work on any of my EOS digital models, starting with the D30 and ending with the 10D. Haven't tried it on the 1D or the 1D MkII 'cause I was afraid to fry the circuitry on such expensive cameras. Might just be the digital EOS cameras are finicky about Sigma zooms in general. Maybe others here have had better luck than you or I.

Call Sigma - for current production lenses they can generally update them for you. Good luck!
