    Are both the same price at my camera store, which would you recomend & why.

    I think the D70 has very improved digital imaging (e.g. better ISO).

    The D70 is newer, and thereby more up to date with the lastest technoligy nikon has to offer. On the other hand if you want a camera with the same ccd and a pro feel to it then the D100 is the better choice. Myself, I have read the reviews and gone over the specs, and though I am no nikon fan, I would take the D70 over the D100. It is all about the final image I believe, and from what I have seen the D70 will deliver a better image. I would also take it over the Rebel D. But as compared to a 10D? I still believe that nikon has only produced one slr that even comes colse. I myself am waiting for the Maxxum 7D.

    D100 V’S D70

    If you look at straight product specification and price you would buy a D70. However Professional Photographers and serious amateurs should be buying a D100 for the following reasons -

    D100 captures “True colour” rather than “Memory colour” therefore the D100 colours are less saturated. True colour is actually what is there; where as memory colour is more vivid and pleasing to the eye.

    D100 has less processing of the picture therefore the end result is better to work on. However the D70 gives you immediately pleasing results. i.e. D100 for wedding photographers will make the whites whiter than the D70.

    D100 has uncompressed RAW files compared to the D70 which does not.

    D100 is built for professional use and has a diecast metal body and a better shutter. Therefore the shutter is built for professional use with regards to the number of frames it is expected to take.

    On the D100 you can use AA batteries with the MB-D100 Multi function battery grip.

    MB-D100 also gives you a side shutter release and controls, plus voice memo. The grip also balances the camera better for using bigger heavier lenses.

    D100 supports several earlier DX Speedlights with D-TTL. D70 only supports the SB800 and SB600.

    D100 viewfinder has more eye relief and a full reflex prism as opposed to a mirror, thereby giving a clearer view.

    D100 has a custom function which boosts the ISO to 3200 and 6400 if you need it.

    D100 has two memory banks as opposed to one in the D70. Therefore on the D100 can be set up with 2 different sets of custom functions.

    D100 can produce Tiff files
