    D70 & Auto ISO
Question for D70 owners: Do you use the "auto ISO" feature, or do you set the ISO yourself? Wondering which option is best. Comments?

i always set ISO myself, its very easy.IT STAYS ON 200.unless i shoot under low light and need a fast shutter.but i use my flash for this when possible.
i look at it like this too, just one more thing you dont have to worry about,is having camera pick the correct iso,but thats just me,ill read post in future to see what other people say,you never know,i might learn something.ive learned alot on this site, alot of info here, and its free.

I never ever put ISO to AUTO. The reason is simple: ISO is just too important that I want full control over it. The higher the ISO the more noise. As freelancer I always shoot with ISO 200 unless I'm forced because of low light levels or another reason (small aperture for instance). This is my opinion but if you're serious about photography, don't put ISO on AUTO.

Me too, I usually set the ISO myself and try and take images using the settings I want, not the camera. But I shoot strickly RAW mode as well.

I too set the ISO to 200 and manually adjust if required. There is a bug in the D70 software that will adjust the ISO up to 1600 when using the flash fill even though the lighting is adequate for ISO 200. The flash fill works fine when the ISO is set manually to the conditions.
