D3100 came today
D3100 came today
I took a few sample shots. I put that Vivitar .43x aux on the kit lens to produce very wide angle. But the auxilary also adds some distortion and vignetting with that lens. I also tried the camer with the Nikkor q 135 f3.5 lens--just looking through a window and at some vases on the windowsill. I was pleased with the sharpness and lack of noise.
More later.

Re: D3100 came today
Congratulations, Don. It may not be a glamorous camera or have all the latest bells and whistles, but I was really impressed with the D3100 when I reviewed it a little over a year ago. I think it has a very, very good sensor and I took some very nice photos with it. Please write a review for it after you've used it for a couple of weeks. I'm sure we need more user reviews for the D3100 and it's still in Nikon's catalog so it's still a totally relevant camera :)

Re: D3100 came today
My trouble as a reviewer is that I use wierd lenses. I do like the camera though and I will try to give out something. Thanks Photo-John.

Over all D3100 is good but i don't like its tiny Grip. It looks like , it is designed for small tiny hand, adult fingers don't curl around it because of no enough room.

That's not really a problem. You can qualify your review with that bit of info. But you have the kit lens and that's what most people who buy the D3100 will have. I'm sure your review will be fine :)

I think camera size is something people give too much importance to. I have big hands (I wear XL gloves) and the only cameras I have a problem with are the ones that are slippery. When I reviewed the D3100, the small size was not something that ever occurred to me as a problem. On the other hand, since I do a lot of backcountry hiking, mountain biking and skiing, I have a predisposition to like any camera that's smaller and lighter.

It feels just right to me. I am a small man with small hands.

Would you say that this camera is a good for a newbie in to the dslr world? I'm thinking about purchasing one.

Re: D3100 came today
Absolutely, or if your budget allows, go for the D3200.
