guess really need to know what you are able to spend on lenses before that can be answered... i just ordered a sigma 70-200 f2.8 for my telephoto$700.00.. thats after having the 70-300 g nikon and the tamaron 70-300.. both did not give me the picuters i was looking for.. as far a wider i am not sure..i am also ordering a nikon 50 1.8 fixed lens.. they are very sharp and cheap.. less then 100 us dollars.. hope this helps.. Yeah, it depends on your budget...If you've got oodles to spend, I'd say go for the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR, which is $1500, but sharp as a tack, and probably one of Nikon's best lenses. Add a 2x TC and you'll be in telephoto heaven. On the wide end, you could get the Nikon 12-24 f/4. If you're on a budget, I'd suggest a 70-300mm (~$130 for any brand) for the long end, while keeping the kit lens for the wideangle. Mrtac2man is right about the 50mm f/1.8 too, definitely an essential. If I wasn't a poor student, I'd have that lens yesterday...
