Can't Read Cf Card - Help
Both my camera and computer are unable to read my Compact Flash Card. After putting the CF card in a card reader at work - it didn't seem to fit well - I was unable to download there. I then put it back in the camera and got the message " There is a problem with CF Card." I then took it home and tried it in my cf slot in my own computer and the computer just wasn't recognising the card as being there at all.
Have I permanently damaged the card and lost the hundred or so photos I took today at a School Carnival?
HELP?
Re: Can't Read Cf Card - Help
I had a problem where my sd card stopped reading but if the card was in the card reader and the computer was rebooted the pictures would come up. I went to HELP and CARD READER and it had me download a driver and it has worked since. First try rebooting with the card in the card slot of your computer then next try help for the driver. This may or may not have anything to do with your problem but it's worth a try, Jeff
Re: Can't Read Cf Card - Help
It sounds like a dead CF card... if it isn't being recognized by anything it sounds like your CF card died on you. This is why you want a quality CF card by one of the name brands out there-- nothing hurts more than losing your prized photos.

Thanks for your replies.
It actually was a Sandisk Extreme IV card - so the quality was fine.
How touchy are the CF cards?

Even the Sandisks fail, lol. You have to be careful that stuff doesn't get into the "pin holes" and that it's not exposed to static electricity (a big static discharge can damage it). Sometimes CF cards just die for no reason.
Re: Can't Read Cf Card - Help
Took the card up to a photographer friend's place this morning - guess what?
His card reader read it straight away. We downloaded the photos and copied to CD. Still something wrong with the card though - as his camera wasn't reading it either.
However, while there, he asked was I sure it was a genuine Sandisk card - I thought it was - but he thinks not. Now that I've researched the fake cards - I think I probably do have a FAKE! Feeling really stupid!!!!! At least I have the photos though.
So thanks for your input anyway.....
