Canon L2 Camcorder Lens on Dig Rebel?

This is probably a dumb question but ...

I own a Canon L2 Camcorder with detachable lens. Can I use that lens on a Canon Digital Rebel. Are there any special adapters I can buy to make it fit, or is it a lost cause?
