Do you think the SIGMA 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro Lens for Canon EOS / EF Lens would be good for taking pictures of the kids playing sports?

Indoor or outdoor sports?

Outdoor, daytime, good light, yes.
Indoor, not so good.
The f5.6 means it's not going to get such good results in dull light.
The wider aperture the better for indoor sports, I use f2.8 70-200 but it comes expensive !
