    Olympus sensor chips

Is the sensor chip in the E510 the same as the sensor in the E3?

    Re: Olympus sensor chips

No - they're different. They have the same resolution but the E-3 has a completely new sensor. The E-3 sensor has larger individual pixels. Olympus achieved this by reducing the space between pixels. And the larger pixels should mean better image quality. We have a couple of articles on the Olympus E-3 that you might want to read:

    Olympus E-3 Preview >>
    Olympus E-3 Pro Review >>

The preview was written before we got a camera to test. It has a lot of tech information and some hands-on impressions from the E-3 introduction event we attended. There's more information on the E-3 sensor in the preview article. The pro review is an in-depth hands-on review with sample photos, including high-res studio samples for comparison.
