Canon 10D issues
HELP! It was shooting JUST fine then all of a sudden I have the black screen of death on my camera.
The camera sounds like it is taking a photo, the mirror locks up when the shutter is depressed, the numbers and metering is accurate, the camera turns on, the battery is new. Everything seems like it should work just fine.
It is just NOT recording information. :mad2:  :confused5:
Any ideas? before I trek it into Seattle?

Re: Canon 10D issues
Is your new battery a Canon battery? I've had really bad luck with non-Canon batteries. On the other hand, if the LCD has just gone black, maybe that's the problem. Maybe your LCD has died or a connector in the camera has come loose. I'd try a different battery first, if you haven't already. If that doesn't work, take it in the the big city.

Re: Canon 10D issues
Are you saying that it can take multiple "blank" images? During playback it shows a blank screen but the frame counter is visible in each frame?
Or are you saying that it takes one "blank" image and the mirror is stuck in the up position and the camera stays stuck?
If you mean the latter, I've had that happen to 3 different Canon models.

I have the same proble. I take multiple blank images and the playback shows the frame counter and histogram which is blank. I have tried new batteries.

This sounds to me like a sensor issue - like the mirror and shutter are working but the sensor isn't capturing an image. Have you called Canon customer service?
