    Best lens' for Nikon D7000
I have a Nikon D7000 with a 28-300mm lens. I enjoy wildlife photography. Since most of my photography is done during travel, I tried to stick with one lens. Obviously, in low light situations, I have difficulty taking pictures at a distance. Any suggestions?

Which 28-300 do you have? If it's the Nikon one then it's difficult to suggest anything better. Look at your requirements:

    - just one lens
    - wide range going out long telephoto for wildlife
    - highly portable because you're using it on vacation

In low light the VR function on the Nikon lens will help you to use fairly slow shutter speeds even with the lens out at the tele end - provided you have a steady hand. Plus the slow shutter speed won't stop subject movement.

The next step up would be to get a second lens for low light like the 70-210 f2.8 VR but then you're talking big lens and big bucks. Doesn't fit in your requirements

Thanks for the advice. I have the Nikon 28-300 VR lens. I am willing to buy an additional lens if it means I will be able to capture my subjects that I often travel far to photograph.

Tamron 18-270 pzd. My favorite travel lens. Silent autofocus with the new pzd motor, again same low light issues but that comes with the territory. It's very small and compact for such a wide focal length.

Nikon also has an 80-200 f/2.8 which is about half the price of their 70-200. Sigma and Tamron also have 70-200 f/2.8 options which are around $700-$1000.
