eyepiece cap needed in Mirror Up mode?

I often shoot macro shots with a remote and my body away from the camera to prevent shake. I recently bought a Nikon D300s with "Mirror-Up" mode that I am looking forward to using for these situations. Do I still need the little eyepiece cap to block light from coming in through the viewfinder?

Re: eyepiece cap needed in Mirror Up mode?

I find them just obnoxious to change in and out, if I need the camera to meter something in mlu when I'm not behind the viewfinder, I usually just cover the eyepiece with my hand. The problem I have with them is that I'm frequently looking through the viewfinder as I'm mostly free-hand, so taking them on and off, on and off is a pointless chore, even with tripod use. In a full manual mode, the only time you want the function of that is when you are looking through the viewfinder anyway.

If you are using an automated or priority mode, and have a fixed position, angle and view set on the camera and in a scene, and are not within arms length I suppose it might be useful then.

They get lost fast. Technically they should be used but like anbesol says, it is easier to just cover it with your hand or something,(not touching the camera of course).
