Hey Ronnoco do you have any further information on that Minolta Alpha DSLR by Sony, such as a web site or specs on the camera.

Personally I would switch to nikon/ canon for sports imagery though ;) The ALPHA will mostlikely take that rediculous memorystick leaving you will normal cards collecting dust.

It looks like it will handle Minolta flash units and 10 megapixels. Launch June 9th.
By the way it will like other Minoltas handle compact flash memory,...and perhaps memory sticks as well, but not ONLY memory sticks.

Well if it takes CF cards then that's great to hear. I keep looking at the sony W series cameras as a leave in my truck camera, but can't get myself to buy memory stick cards.

Lets see. I'd start with a pair of 30Ds and a 5D for studio work. A 24-70L, the 70-200L IS, a 400L IS, a 1.4 TC, an 85mm Prime, a pair of 580s, and a small studio lighting kit. That should eat up most of the money, so the rest would be spent on one of the new Thinkpad T60s and CF cards.

    I'd buy:
    1) a D2X
    2) a D50
    3) an F6
    4) one of those fancy auto processors
    5) 30" Apple Cinema Display
    6) set aside $$$ for an intel mac desktop (powermac replacements) when they come out
    7) 85/1.4
    8) 28/1.4
    9) 12-24/4 AFS
    10) a few more fast lenses...
    11) sell my 300/2.8 AFS I and upgrade to the 300/2.8G VR AFS
    12) buy a 200/2.0VR
    13) buy an R1C1 close up flash system
    14) 105VR Micro nikkor
    15) pick up a Nikon Ultra Micro Nikkor and a Repro Nikkor

Photo magazines and others seem to suggest that the D200 is bettter than the D2X. What is your view?

Unfortunately, it's almost easy to imagine spending that much. I have a Nikon D200 and D50 now with an SB800 and Bogen monopod and head with the following Nikon lenses: 17-35 f/2.8, 35mm f/2, 35-70mm f/2.8, 85mm f/1.4, 70-200mm f/2.8. I also have a Tamron 90mm macro lens that I use with a Tamron 1.4x TC and a Sigma 50-500mm.

With $20k, I'd buy a 600mm f/4 Nikon lens and dedicated 2x and 1.7x TCs, plus a sturdy tripod and a Wimberley head. I'd add a 300mm f/2.8 AFS and maybe the Nikon 12-24mm and 200mm micro. That doesn't leave much cash, but I'd stash that in the camera bag.

I'd take $10,000 and spend it on a trip to Banff, Yellowstone, Whistler, etc. Use the other 10K on a Nikon Digital and some great lenses, to get some great photos while I was there!! :D
