Your opinion please!
I'm torn between the Canon Rebel XT and Olympus EVOLT E-500. They both seem like great cameras! Which one should I get?

With more info about what you are going to shoot it will be easier to help but here goes anyway...
Looking at the specs I'd say the Canon has an advantage. The sensor on the Canon seems to be larger which at the same number of pixels should mean a sharper image and less noise. The XT fairs well looking at quite a few specs.
Try to get to a local camera shop and check them out for yourself. Hold them in your hands and see how they feel. That made a big difference for me when choosing between the XT and 20D. The 20D just felt much better in my hands.

IMHO, the Canon is a better choice. Although the Olympus has some very nice features, it has a smaller, noisier sensor. You are also locked into that small sensor size because of the small lens coverage. Full frame sensors are finally coming down in price. Canon (35mm) lenses can take advantage of that, the Olympus lenses can not.
Try them both out and see which you like best. No one here can tell you which is best for you.
