is XD memory slow?

I recently bought a olympus 512 xd card, and I think xd just is really slow... anyone feel the same way? as compared to CF?

I think the more important variable is the camera...I don't have much experience with xd, but with my powershot, using my 40x lexar card isn't any faster than my cheapo kingston card. But my D70 uses the full potential of the 40x card, and is slowed down by the kingston card. Some cameras just don't write to their cards quickly, no matter how fast the media is rated.

good point man. its just my point/shoot fuji A340. the only reason i went with this camera was price. i agree, the camera just doesnt save pics very fast. thanks
