    what should I look for
I am looking to get a digital camera that can take pictures inside a basketball gymnasium. I am not looking to be a "professional photographer" or anything... I'm just a Mom who is tired of missing those great shots of my son playing basketball because the gym lighting is too bad. I have an inexpensive Kodak digital (~$200- 4.0 megapixels, 10X optical zoom). It is great for the birthday party/school play/Christmas morning photos, but in the gym I have been disgusted. After 6 months, I haven't been able to get one good basketball pic. If I use the "sports/motion" setting, the exposure is too dark. If I use the "bad lighting" setting, the picture is blurry. This week I am getting a new camera!! I would like to know what "features" I need to have to get good photos inside a gym.

An EVF compact with a fast lens 2.8 to shoot in less than ideal lighting, manual shutter speeds to stop the action and good white balance control to eliminate the green tinge from the flourescents. A powerful flash would be ideal as well.

You need a fast shutter responce, F 2 or 2.8 lense, and a good fash. I would recommend at least a 3 - 5 meg pixel camera unless you purchase a DSLR.
