What is the best DSLR to buy for the $$$?

Hi, I found this item on ebay. The reseller reviews seem promising, with only problems regarding some international orders..

    http://cgi.ebay.com/CANON-EOS-Digita...QQcmdZViewItem

This is the best price I have found for the items I need.

Do you guys think that the 18-55 lenses and 75-300 lenses from Canon are the best you can get for budget lenses?

comments please, and if you have any other alternative suggestions (Such as buying an Xti body and what certain lenses?)

Im going to be using the camera for a lot of different kind of shooting... and am pretty experienced with my point and shoot and film slr.

    I wouldn't buy from them.
First, other than the lenses, the accessories are of low quality and you'll end up replacing them. I don't know about the lenses.....let a Canon person respond to that.
Second, I can find no where on their page that says they are an authorized dealer. That means you will be getting a grey market camera,(probably just as good) and it won't have a guarantee honored by Canon. If you call them to ask a question they'll probably tell you that THEY guarantee the product which means any problems will go to a generic fix it shop and not to Canon. They'll smooth talk you which is why they want you to call instead of using ebays ask seller a question form. I'm also leary of any place on ebay that has 'special' payment instructions. If I can't pay for it directly with paypal I skip it. Ebay can be great but be careful.
Sometimes you save money in the long run by spending a bit more in the short.

Ok, I've changed my mind.. mostly due to the low quality extras and the ratings werent so good for that seller.

Two options, and both these sellers I think are trustable, 99.9 % feedback
J and K cameras and Cameta cameras

The reason I am thinking about a NIkon D40 is because Canon lenses are sucky until I pay like 300-1000 bucks for them compared to Nikon's.

Now, I am not going to be spending over 1000 PERIOD including lenses so.. I think Nikon's cheap starter lenses would be better.

EDIT: Seems like JK camera is gray market but the Cameta is an authorized dealer.

PS. I also am considering just buying the D40 from Costco. How much would a set of entry level filters, wide angle lens cost?

    how about this one http://cgi.ebay.com/Nikon-D40x-Digit...QQcmdZViewItem
Seems they are an authorized dealer if offering nikon warranty. I have the 18-135 lens on my d80 90% of the time and think it is a great walk around lens.
Filters.....buy the best...good ones cost money but why have a good lens with a poor filter in front of it.
