Video Brightness Canon S400

Videos taken with my Canon S400 seem fine when viewed in the camera itself, but when the same videos are viewed through QuickTime or Windows Media player the images are sometimes so dark that they are hard to see. Any thoughts on why this discrepancy in brightness?

it will help if u compare the movies u take with some other ones useing the same player.. if the brightness levels of the others look okay it tends to suggest the ones u are taking are at fault...
