Sony DSC-V1,,, picture speed

Just got the DSC-V1 and love it, but there is a delay between pictures. Meaning I have to wait several seconds before taking another picture. The card is 256mb, new high speed.

Am I better off taking pictures in low res and changing the size later if needed?

I'm getting ready to stick mine up on eBay for the very same reason. Too slow and the flash sucks.

I just bought a Nikon 5200, but the flash is too bright and it doesn't have a lot of manual control (which really wouldn't bother me for what I use it for-. The 5200 is really speedy. I tried with the V1, but it sucked in my book, and I owned a Sony DSC-S70, a 515 and a 717, so I'm really used to Sony and always liked them, but damn if I was really disappointed in this camera.
