Sd/sdhc Memory Cards
My new DSLR takes SD/SDHC memory cards. I see they come in sizes ranging from 1GB up to 32GB. However, 2, 4, and 8 GB seem to be the most common capacities and are reasonably priced. I am curious as to who manufactures the best quality cards? How does Transcend stack up against the competition?

There are SD cards smaller than 1GB. 8MB is the smallest. If the capacity is 4GB+, then you are looking at an SDHC. Also note that some 4GB+ cards aren't labeled as SDHC, and may not work properly with your camera. Ensure that the 4GB+ cards you are getting are marked as "SDHC".

Lexar, SanDisk, and Panasonic are throughly recommended. I would advise to ALWAYS stick to either of these brands, I personally use cards from all three and they work great.
Transcend may be OK too, as well as the other less-well-known manufacturers. But if you want absolute reliability and speed for recording/storing precious images, stick to the 3 firstly mentioned brands.

Re: Sd/sdhc Memory Cards
I have been using Transcend cards of different types (CF, SDHC..) for the last 3 years and I have never had any problems with them. I have measured the performance and they are exactly as rated.
You never hear about Transcend because they don't do advertising which finally makes the cards cheaper than the big name brands.
