RiDATA CF cards any good?

I've found some really good prices of RiDATA CF cards both online and in retail shops. I'm just a bit wary of the phrase "if it's too good to be true..."

So I'm wondering if there's something up with the quality of these cards (or if those being sold are fakes) :confused:

Anybody used RiDATA CF cards with good results?

Feel free to chime in.

(I'll be using it on my Oly E-510; FYI, I've found Sandisk to be quite reliable, but pricey compared to the RiDATAs currently available)

I have 2 - 2gig RiDATA CR cards that I used as my main cards in my DRebel. I think mine are 88x or something like that. Pretty slow as they are a few years old now. Not to mention that the camera I am using them in is also very slow. I have never had a problem with them. I still use them in my 300D and in my 40D if I fill up my other cards.

I have 2 RiDATA SD cards - I know you are asking about the CF cards - but I have used these in my D50 for a little over 2 years without an issue - I would not hesitate to get more of them.

side note - I also use the RiDATA dvd+r discs and have never had a coaster due to their discs....

They've been around long enough that there would be a lot of stories floating around if they were junk. At newegg.com, they have user reviews of specific products and you might see what they have to say about them. Not these cards specifically, but I have seen a few reviews saying that some cards don't work well for digital photography (but might be fine in a Palm, etc).

When I got my RiDATA cards, I got them from newegg.com. I don't think they carry them anymore, but you may still be able to find the reviews from when they did. I know they were pretty positive, and that's why I bought them.

If you're looking for inexpensive CF cards, I would STAY AWAY from A-Data cards. I have two of them, and I don't trust either of them!

I have one 2 gig card, never had any problems with it. It works just as well as my other cards, though it seems to take a little longer when I try to transfer files to the computer.

I have a 2GB CF, one of their Pro versions. Rock solid for a few years now and the fastest card I own in my 20Ds.

Good point about RiDATA being around for a while now. I guess that's at least a testament to [some degree of] quality.

I'll be getting the 8GB CF Lightning Series (233x).

They're pretty good. I have a small 2GB one I keep in my bag in case I lose my other cards or they get damaged. It's not anywhere near as fast as the top of the line Sandisk/Lexar/Kingston cards but it's a mighty good card even though it's not from a major brand.
