    Glass vs Plastic

I have been out shopping for a new camera. Some have plastic lenses and others have glass. I have read reviews on cameras with plastic lenses and ones with glass. It seems that the picture quality is just as good or better with a plastic lense. Would glass last longer and be more durable than plastic? Does it really make that much difference?

When you look in a plastic window you can tell its plastic. If your looking for a cheap camera its the way to go. Plastic is plastic it will break down after it is made so the life is not as long. they scratch alot more the glass also.

A salesman at a local camera store told me that the Canon Powershot A70, A75, A80 all had plastic lenses. They all seem to have pretty good reviews. I couldn't find any other information whether this was true.
