A question about uploading photos using Samsung, please help!
Hi There
I just bought my SamsungS760 digital camera. The past two weeks when I uploaded pictures, it would upload the *new* ones that I have, but lately it has been uploading the old ones too! THis is extremely frustrating because when I simply want to upload the one picture that I took, it uploads all 45!! Any suggestions?? I am not too *savvy* in this area so any help would be greatly appreciated!
:) :) :) :p :p :p

Welcome to PR, samsunguserpink!
I know exactly what you mean.
Until recently, I employed the included software that came with my Panasonic FZ7K. This software would always import every photo in the memory card, sometimes I could abort the transfer midway so only a few photos were downloaded. However, doing this was a very rough estimate and sometimes new photos did not get downloaded or old ones did.:(
My advice would be to buy a good card reader. You'll find out that they are much faster at downloading/writing. Models that only read SD & MMC cost around $10-$25 CAN, and one I thoroughly reccomend is the Iogear GFR212SDW6. I have written a review on it here.

One sure way to avoid this problem is to always remove all photos from the card. I know a lot of people want to save some photos on their camera so they can share them. But that's part of the reason you're having this problem. If you format the card in the camera every time you dump photos, it's less likely to get corrupted and you won't have trouble downloading the same photos twice.
I also agree about buying a card reader. They only cost about $20 and you won't have to plug your camera into the computer anymore. I actually never use the supplied camera software, either. I just use Windows Explorer to transfer my photos from the memory card (via card reader) to my computer. If you transfer them yourself, as I do, you can actually look at the file names and only select the new photos to transfer to your computer.
Let me know if that doesn't all make sense. Using Windows Explorer does require a little bit of computer knowledge. But I think it's a much better method than plugging the camera into the computer and relying on the camera software to do the job.

This is a good point from Photo-John. I have an SD card which has had 25,000+ photos and many videos recorded then deleted. The card is still working perfectly.:)
I also agree about formatting in the camera, not in a computer.
