    Please help me pick something!
    Hey guys!

Let me start off by saying... I know very very very little about cameras. My gf is the photographer and I am actually posting here because I want to buy her a digital camera for christmas. She used to have one awhile ago but it was stolen and she doesn't have the money to buy a new one.

My budget is probably about $400 so I'm hoping I can get something decent for this price! I know she likes sony a lot so those suggestions would be great but anything will be fine! If you need more info I can try and provide it!

    thank you for the help!

It's so nice to hear you'll be buying her a camera for Christmas.

You didn't mention what type of camera she had. Was it a small one that would fit in her pocket? Was it a large one with interchangeable lens? Was it large-ish with a fixed lens?

For a large interchangeable lens camera (DSLR), your best option
would be the A290 with the kit lens (18-55mm), which costs $399.
For a large-ish, fixed lens "bridge" camera, go with the HX1 ($399).
For a compact camera, the best Sony is the HX5 (now selling for $299).

If you have further questions, go right ahead.
