Please dont laugh

I just recieved my G7 and am used to having a wrist strap. Is it safe to put these on a wrist strap. Is a single lug strong enough to hold abot 14 oz.?

I think it's probably fine. The piece you attach it to is metal, right? I used to carry my G2 around on the neckstrap with a flash attached. That might be close to the same kind of weight you're talking about. Anyway, maybe keep an eye on it for a while. And if you don't notice any problems, don't worry about it. These cameras are all more durable than people think they are.
