Out of focus/Grainy Pictures
I'm having a lot of problems with blurry pictures, as well as grainy looking photos. I use a
D30, which I have had a long time, but stopped using it for a couple of years. Anyway, I take mostly action photos (soccer, baseball), and in the past I would get some really great shots. Now, it seems like just about every picture is a little bit out of focus, as well as grainy (even when developing 4X6). Before anyone asks, I use the Program setting (which used to work just fine), but have been really dissappointed lately. I am wondering if anyone has any advice, on whether or not my camera could be out of focus, some kind of shutter problem, etc.
Thanks!
Re: Out of focus/Grainy Pictures
Post us a picture along with the EXIF data. Noise comes from a high ISO and blur from to slow a shutter speed. Let's see what you are doing. If you can?

Re: Out of focus/Grainy Pictures
Thanks for the response! I'm not sure how to paste the entire EXIF data, but here's ISO, and other info.
Also, not sure if I posted the picture correctly...! It's a picture I took of a surfer, and although the lighting isn't the greatest, this is pretty common with other pictures as well. I've also noticed that with some pictures, even if I am centering object and focussing, they are out of focus, but the background is somewhat in focus.
Shutter Speed-1/750th sec
F-Stop- F/95.0
Aperture Value- f/9
Max aperture value- 4.5
ISO speed ratings- 400
Focal Length- 200
Re: Out of focus/Grainy Pictures
Well the EXIF looks good for this shot. It also looks fairly focused on my screen but it could use a sharpening. Check your AF setting to make sure the camera is focusing on the point you want. It could have focused on the bridge here. Maybe switch it to spot focus using the center focusing point on your camera, here you can download the manual.....
400ISO is a little high for a bright shot like this. Lowering your ISO to 200 or 100 will help reduce noise in the picture.
