    Opinnions on Fuji S5000
Since I take photoggraphs, I must know everything think my friends :D

So one asked me about the Fuji S5000 as a digital camera for his father.
Started out as "just to put things on ebay"
then "he'll take it on holiday"
    and "he likes landscapes"
    finally "family occasions too"

So you can see the requirements are clearly defined

I wonder, has anyone here used one, and got good/bad comments on it?

Our office shares an S5000. Seems like a decent all-rounder and the 6x lens is a plus.
Decently easy user interfaces. Less manual abilities than my C-Series Oly's, but that's probably fine for "Dad".

i own an s5000. been using it for a few months and am a newbie. still learning, but...

pros: can be used as a point and shoot, or with more experience as a fully manual, or something inbetween. it will meet and certainly exceed what your dad wants to do. offers a lot of flexiblity for a newbie to learn and grow. 6x optical zoom is wonderful, just wonderful. nice ergos.

cons: shutter speed is slow (i shoot a lot of animal shots, many in motion. i will likely always have this complaint with any camera). expensive overkill for a newbie just wanting a simple point and shoot camera. not compact so doens't fit in a pocket.
