Newby Question

I've got 30 days to decide if I want to keep a HP M 22 camera that was givin to me for my birthday. I wanted a simple camera to go mountainbiking with,so it has to be small and tough. It is small and water resistant. It has no moving parts and a metal case. It is a 4 mega pix and has no optical zoom, but does have some Digi zoom and it is a $200 camera.It uses regular AA batteries and a normal SD card. I'm not looking for premium quality pictures ,just something to doa average 8x10 and be able to do a decent internet picture on occasion. Would this camera suit my purposes or would I be better served with someting else?

The best way to know is to try it out. Go out, take some pictures and have a few printed. At 4mp you shoould be fine, but the best way know is to just use it.

It sounds like a great little camera for your purposes. 4MP is plenty to print a good 8x10. But as Almo said, the only real way to know is to get out there and take some pictures. If you are happy with the quality, then stick with it. If you find yourself really needing a zoom or unhappy with the quality, then it's time for a trade-in.

Just be aware that digital zoom is like the photos on a Denny's menu; it doesn't mean anything at all. The camera is just cropping and resizing for you.

After trying several different types of shots with this camera, here is what I have found. The size is really good ,almost too small, as a matter of fact it is so small you really need 2 hands to get a good grip on it( bad ergo.) .There is no eye piece, and the screen is also kinda small,(I miss having a eye piece or veiw finder). The recovery time is good on the shutter buttton, but the button is very easy to hit accidently. As far as pix goes, backgrounds seem to be ok but the people in the pix almost look as if they were pasted in the scenery and the edges are not real clear. I will be returning this camera in hopes of finding something a little better. Any suggestions. Here is my criteria...

Tough enough for MTB rides, Think like, opps I droped it
Some type of weather resistance
4 megapix or higher
Sd card only
AA size batteries
Ease of operation, I don't need alot of features
200-300 $$$

Any help would be appreciated

My Only Problems With It Are About The In Camera Deletion..It's Beyond Annoying!

But If Yer Looking Ta Snap Them Off, And Download Them, Then Do All The Frigging Around,,,It's A Serious Winner As Far As I'm Concerned;)
