Need A new Camera for a disney trip
I am looking for a new compact camera for our family disney trip. So this will be a x-mas present for the wife. With that said probably will not be printing many of the pictures larger than your average 4x6 prints. Mostly I want to just have them digitally for memories. The other feature I would like to have is the HD video recording capability. I no longer wish to carry a camcorder and know I will lose something here but convience with somewhat good quality is ok with me. Here is what I have narrowed it down to and as far as price I could go even a little higher if need be. Thanks in advance for your alls help and opinions.
First Choice is: Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX700
Second is the sony tx9 (don't care about 3-d)
Thanks Again!!!!!
Re: Need A new Camera for a disney trip
Between these two models, I would to go with the FX700,
mainly due to its wider f/2.2 aperture when zoomed out.
That would come in very handy indoors and in the evening.
Also it has a slightly wider lens and larger zoom range.
Have fun on your trip!

Thanks eyalg, probably going with that one. I think my wife would like the more traditional of the two
Re: Need A new Camera for a disney trip
What do you mean by 'traditional'?
Both are touch screen, so in my opinion both are not traditional.
You could also take a look at Sony's HX5 for full HD, sweep panorama (cool!)
wide 25mm lens and x10 zoom. Not sure if it fits your wife's taste, though.

I vote for the Sony HX5V. I reviewed the Sony TX5 waterproof camera this summer and the two camera share a lot of features. The TX5 is the best waterproof point-and-shoot camera I've ever used and it got me interested in the HX5V. I'm also a fan of the pocket superzoom category. Right now I think those cameras offer the best features and performance for the money if you're looking at point-and-shoots.

You might also want to read my Canon SD4500 IS review. The PowerShot SD4500 IS is a pocket superzoom like the Sony HX5V and I've found Canon almost always has the best point-and-shoot image quality.

I hope that adds something useful to the mix :)

That is what I meant, neither are traditional but of the two the panasonic looks more traditional
