Need Help to get this camera to work!
Ok, so I got this security camera from a friend and when I plug in the video and sound on the TV nothing comes up.. The red connection is weird though and I'm not sure if i need something extra for it.

How are you giving the camera power?
Yellow and White male RCA plugs are standard colours for the audio and video.

That red female RCA socket is perhaps where the power adapter plugs in?
Problem is, if you don't have the original power adapter you have a 50-50 chance of wiring it up the wrong way round and toasting the electronics.
Cheap cameras don't often have protection against wiring them up backwards.
Expensive camera sometimes don't as I know to my cost :(

ok so this is what the red RCA socket looks like on the inside.

It has another sort of male end that is inside the end of it.
Does that help? I don't have the origianal power adapter but if you know what i need that would help a ton!! any ideas on how to get this thing up and working?

Does the camera have anything written on its back? Maybe a little diagram right by where the red wire goes in?

nothing written on the back, just a sticker that says

Unless someone recognizes the brand and has a power supply they can use as a reference you're really in the dark. You don't know-

The voltage (too much will fry it, too little and it won't work)

The amperage (too little and it won't work, too much is no problem)

The polarity (which is positive, which is negative, get it wrong and you'll fry it)

And there's even a small possibility that it requires AC, rather than DC power (cheaper power supply, more complicated circuit board).

Try going to Google Shopping and searching for security cameras. See if you can find the same thing. You might even find a replacement power supply.

The only thing that's a bit confusing is that it has a red, green, blue sticker on it, which indicates that it's color, but the LEDs on the side are generally IR, which is more common for black and white.
