My software wont install because i am using win2000

Help I bought the canon sd780 with 2 years warranty. So excited to try it but to my horror the software would not install because i do not meet the requirement. This CD comes with Zoombrowser EX6.3 and Photostitch 3.1

Is there any 3rd party software that i can use to import/edit/ photos and videos? or is there anyways to install the above software on my window2000 pc?? thanks guys i hope you can help me.

The first thing that caught my mind was...Why do you use Win2000 now a days? IS there any particular reason not to upgrade at least to Win XP?

If you had at least XP you will not need any third party software to transfer files between camera and computer....not sure about Win2000 tho.

How are connecting the camera to the PC? - TF

i am using a pretty old pc that i keep upgrading thru out the years. so i never actually bought a new PC with window XP. Anyways when i hook up the camera to my PC, my window detected a digital camera and was attempting to install the driver. I put in my canon CD but my window didnt find a suitable driver for it.

Connect the camera to the computer (USB port?). Look in your Windows Explorer and the camera may be listed as a device just like a hard drive would be. Drag and drop your photo files (jpg I assume) into a folder in your hard drive.

If that doesn't work, try using a card reader for whatever type of storage card you are using and see if that shows up as a device.

Once you get the files on your hard drive, you can view them in your Windows viewer (whatever came with W2000) or download something like ThumbsPlus.

My camera would not show up even as a external drive. I looked into "my computer" nothing came up. :mad2:

Sounds like you will have to use a card reader to transfer your photo files. Then you will probably have the same problem with modern editing software. The last Windows XP Pro I purchased was ony $100 USD. Might be worth the money.

I agree Xp will be a smart move....not only for hoking up the camera and transfer files but also for some decent PP software.

haha i finally bought a used copy of win xp home for cheap and formatted my pc now everything works as it should. I am loving this camera now! thanks everyone
