Looking for durable walkway solutions for my front yard
I’m thinking about redoing the walkway in front of my house because the current one has cracked and shifted over time. I’d like something that looks great and holds up during Canadian winters. What materials or methods would you recommend for long-term durability and minimal upkeep?

Concrete is common, but I’ve seen some people go for stone or brick with better visual results. Curious what others have tried and how it's held up over time.

Redesigning your walkway can be a smart investment, especially if the current one is uneven or cracking. I went through the same process last fall and realized that aesthetics were just as important as durability https://oakshs.ca/walkway-interlocking/ had some great interlocking options that looked custom without the massive cost. After speaking with their team, I chose a textured stone finish with a neutral tone that matched my home’s exterior. The installation went smoothly, and what really impressed me was how stable the stones stayed after a full winter with heavy snow and freeze-thaw cycles. It's been easy to clean, drains well, and hasn’t shifted at all. I’d definitely recommend exploring interlocking systems—they offer both structure and beauty.
