Looking to buy a good point and shoot

    Hi
I am looking to buy a good point and shoot camera, main purpose will be to take pictures at family indoor events, and casual photos. Most photos will be viewed digitally( on a computer) and some might be printed regular sizes (4x6).

I need a camera that does low light since it will be indoor
    Budget: $200
I would like it to have a 3" screen
I dont care about the optical viewfinder

I am looking at the SD790 IS but it doesnt have optical zoom in Movie mood which is what I want also.
and Also looking at the W230 Sony Cyber-Shot

    Thanks

Also: is it a good idea to wait for the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S980? It fits my budget and will be released the 18th

    I had a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T50 - Digital camera. Best P&S I ever owned.
The easy of use, the builtin slideshow feature were awesome.
I don't think you can go wrong with the Sony.

Does you think the W290 will match the SD 880IS Performance?

like how well it does.. all the positive reviews that 880IS has.. the 720p video record which the w290 has is a plus for me, i just wanna know if it will be able to take pictures just as good as the 880IS and match the speed of shot to shot of 880IS like ppl said (shutter lag) i guess i ll just have to wait for the reviews to come out. i stuck between the 880IS and the W290 I really want the sony but i just dont wanna be disappointed.

On what little you've told us - you're shooting for computer screen viewing and occasional 4x6 prints, what little 'performance' difference there may be is irrelevant. There may be some practical benefits one has over the other, for example - the W230 has a bit of a wider angle and the S980 is slightly more telephoto, the wider angle usually being more practical. The S980 also has a bit of a faster aperture range, making for a bit better low light shooting, and more consistent performance across the zoom range.

Truly though - very little difference between the two.

I would recommend the Canon Powershot A2000 IS.

I would recommend the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W120. You can get it for about 130 and it comes in lots of colors. I've used this camera and think it's great. It has a little bit of a smaller screen, but it is still a great camera.
