Looking: Beginner/Decent Dig Cam, <$200
Hello. I'm looking to buy a digital camera. I currently own a canon powershot s200 (compact digital camera). I'm looking for a slightly better camera.
USES:
Outdoors- I want to take it with me backpacking, camping, hiking etc. Day and nights. Long distance or close.
Other- will want it to be able to take decent shots inside, around the house, of any social setting really.
It doesn't have to be professional quality or best of the best, but I do want it to be able to do a good / above par job with those uses. I'm no expert, and likely won't have the time to spend learning a lot of details concerning how to manually operate a camera besides easy basics. I'm not interested in that as of now either. OH YEAH- I also don't want it to crap out on me in 1-2 years.
I was CONSIDERING buying a FUJIFILM S700 Black 7.1 MP Digital Camera. Any other suggestions? You think this camera is decent? I have a bunch of reviews to read yet. If I got it would I need to invest in lenses?
Thanks!
Edit: If you wanted to check the specs on it, it's here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16830122110

compare with other models (similar price). Fuji S700 is the best value P&S under $200. But you may read user reviews here before you buy.
Re: Looking: Beginner/Decent Dig Cam, <$200
Hi,
I have the same problem. I would like to buy a compact digital camera for <$200, because the Nikon we have is huge and I don't feel like carrying it around. That is why I want a "ladies" camera - something small (preferably in pink, just kidding), but at the same time capable of taking pictures with the Nikon quality (yeah, right :-).
I know nothing in the size I am interested in will come even close to that quality, but still, I would like to ask you to recommend something that will take decent pictures. The limit on the price was imposed by my husband, because I was the one that insisted on buying the Nikon in the first place and now I don't want to carry it around at parties, so my punishment is a cheap camera :-) I am not a big fan of Fuji, so that will not work for me.
Can anyone recommend something, please, please, pretty please...
What do you think of Pentax Optio M40 or M50; any Sony (Carl Zeiss), Panasonic (Leica), Kodak cameras up to $200 or a little bit more :-))) ?
Thank you in advance for any advice.
