    Lag Time on P/S
Which P/S has the shortest lag time? I am looking for something 5 MP and larger with a really fast lag time and a decent burst rate.

So far, the best I have found is the Nikon Coolpix 8800 at .4 sec. There seem to be a lot of them around .6 sec.

    Thank you,

    Jason

That seems a long lag time.
If you set the exposure manually, and focus manually, then you ought to be able to get rid of a lot of that time - and importantly have the lag the same for each photo.

    My P&S Minolta A2 has a Shutter-release time lag: 0.05 s
Nearly 10x faster than your Coolpix - did you mis-type that .4s ?

Try prefocusing. This is what photographers did before AF existed. The lag time is with the AF system. I have taken excellent sports action shots with my relatively old Canon S400.
